To submit abstracts for a poster and/or a short talk in the Early Career Researcher or clinical genetic cases sessions, please download the form below and send your abstract to ukeyegenetics@gmail.com. All abstracts for oral and poster presentations will be subject to peer review before acceptance. Submissions will close on 2nd May 2025 and successful submissions will be notified by 10th May 2025. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the conference for the best oral and poster presentations.

This year, the meeting will be chaired by Professor Susan Downes and by Miss Samantha De Silva and hosted at St Anne’s College, in Oxford!

The day will include thought provoking sessions on clinical and molecular eye genetics, genetic case discussions, short talks and posters by early careers researchers, and talks by charities. Confirmed speakers at present include Dr Kanmin Xue, Professor Sobha Sivaprasad, Professor Robert MacLaren, Professor Susan Downes, Dr Jasmina Kapetanovic, Professor Omar Mahroo, Dr Panos Sergouniotis, Professor Dominik Fischer  as well as Miss Samantha de Silva.

NHS England have collected national data from NHS providers for their physiological science services, with the output being shared in an interactive power BI dashboard. Following feedback received, for the second cycle of collections they have developed a new and improved singular dashboard which allows users to view all disciplines in one place. 

So far, we have collected round 2 data for cardiac science, respiratory and sleep, vascular sciences and neurophysiology and we are now able to share the first release of the dashboard.  This release includes data on referrals, activity, waiting lists and workforce. Please note a second release is planned for April/May 2025 which will include additional tabs covering the other sections in the collections.

If you have issues with accessing the dashboard, or if any error messages appear on screen, please firstly contact your local IT administrator to ensure that the free PowerBI licence is enabled.

A webinar session on Tuesday 18^th March between 2:00-3:00pm will offer further details about the functionality and how to navigate around the dashboards.

Estimating visual acuity using stepwise sweep VEP

Diagnosys LLC are hosting a webinar with Dr. Ruth Hamilton, who will describe the variety of ways that VEP tests can estimate visual acuity, including suitable populations and caveats for interpretation. Dr. Hamilton will introduce the stepwise sweep VEP technique developed at NHS Glasgow and show a video demonstration.

Speakers include; Anthony Robson: Teenage cavities, Magella Neveu: Signal failure down the line…  Dorothy Thompson: Paediatric electrophysiology, Gordon Plant: Visual electrophysiology in neurology, Omar Mahroo: Interactive Retinal Cases 

In this session, insights from applications of electrophysiology in the clinical context will be discussed. These will include genotype-phenotype correlations in rare inherited eye diseases (of increasing importance in the era of new therapies) and case-based examples of clinical diagnostic dilemmas wherein electrophysiological tests were instrumental in securing the diagnosis.
