Since October 2022, NHS England have collected national data from NHS providers for their physiological science services. The first cycle of collections has now been completed, and they will be repeating this national stocktake for ophthalmic diagnostics and imaging services during September 2025.
The aim of the physiological science data collections (aligned to the national diagnostic strategy) is to enable an improved understanding of these services and develop benchmarking data particularly in relation to activity, productivity, waiting times, workforce and estates. The data collected will be compared against baseline data and used to underpin local and national transformation programmes for physiological sciences through our physiological science networks.
The ophthalmic diagnostics and imaging national collection will be open during Monday 15th September – Friday 10th October 2025.
Each survey has been developed with input from a range of stakeholders including subject matter experts, data experts and specialists.
